Is It a Good Idea to Pump Out Your Septic Tank Before Inspection?

No, please don’t have your septic tank pumped before inspection. We want to inspect the tank “as is”, so that we assess if the system is operating the way it should be.

Observing the top crust layer, middle liquid layer and bottom sludge layer will give us valuable information about the functionality of the septic tank.

Are Winter Inspections Possible?

Yes, winter inspections are possible. The residual heat from the effluent will keep the system from freezing over, allowing easy access to the system components as long as they are not buried too deep.

Can You Guarantee the Inspection Results?

No, we are not able to guarantee inspection results or future performance of the septic system. Septic system issues can arise from things like lack of maintenance, worn-out parts, or even user error.

We can only report on the state of the septic system at the time of our inspection, which offers a “snapshot” of the conditions observed. Recommendations may be provided, and our observations will be noted; however, guarantees can not be made.

Should I Use Any Additives to My Septic System in Order to Make It Work Better?

Some homeowners opt to use septic tank additives, hoping that these additives will keep their system running efficiently and extend the time between pump-outs, as well as extend the life of their septic system. Others may purchase additives hoping to save a failing system.

Let’s take a quick look at them in this guide to septic system additives.
